June 2016 - The Month Gone By

The first month has gone by so fast at Kids Joy School! The children have enjoyed their surreal experience in the Jungle. From learning about how giraffes are the tallest animals in the jungle to seeing how a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly and watching the majestic ostrich strut about at their outing to the Sacred Heart Zoo, the kids have had a blast.

Many overcame their fear of talking in front of an audience when they brought their jungle animal toys to class and stood up in the front of the class and spoke about it. Ayn from Senior KG did a wonderful presentation on owls. A special mention must be made of her busy mum who look time out to coach her daughter and help her present it using a slideshow.

The children enjoyed making snakes and caterpillars with play dough and loved getting their hands into paint, making spiral snakes with bubble wrap and brushing manes on lions faces. Another highlight of the month was making little handprint cards for their Daddies on Father’s Day.

Their favourite game was throwing the ball into the lions mouth and then they had fun sticking their heads into the cutout pretending to be fierce lions! During circle time, they learnt to speak politely using words like please, thank you and I’m sorry. They learnt the concept of size through the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and learnt to be content with who they were through the story ‘Hold your Head Up High Little Giraffe’.

Using different visual aids and props, the nursery kids learnt to count to 10, the JKG learnt the vowel sounds and the SKG started cursive writing! A fun month for the kids as they settled back into the routine of school.
